Our Story

We are that bright yellow building that's found our home in the welcoming Fraserhood community of Vancouver, Canada. Outside our space we have created a community hub of benches, planter boxes, bee garden, herbs, fruit trees and vegetables. Out back is our secret backyard, a place where you can host your own party, or join one of ours, sit back in the sun and read a book, or share lunch with your family and friends. Anytime of day there is a buzz around us, the sound of community forming, strengthening and getting together just because it feels good.

Inside, when the sun is rising, or high in the sky, we serve bread and pastries that we are so proud of, we brag about them all the time. Our confident baristas will not disappoint, as they create your important first, or fifth caffeinated beverage, (n.b we do not serve decaf….).

Our daytime menu changes depending on the season, and as with all of our menus, is focused on what our community of local, organic, sustainable farmers and foragers has available.

No matter what is happening outside, come join us for a golden moment and enjoy an ever-changing selection of salads, tartines, rotisserie chicken and quiche.

Our team of chefs have worked all over the world and integrate time-honoured culinary traditions with progressive and creative techniques. Our Executive Chef Dave Gunawan, himself a long standing and very respected local chef, is committed to providing his team with the best ingredients and the support and openness they need to develop and express their creativity in their chosen art.

In the evening, when the sun starts to set through our large front window, we turn the music up a little, dim the lights and open the raw bar and dinner kitchen. Oysters for Happy Hour, a bottle of Pet-Nat between friends, followed by hand-made pastas, vegetable dishes and share plates. A long lovely dinner, or a short snack on your way to another adventure, our menu is versatile and complemented by our rotating list of natural wines, cocktails and local beers.

We love what we do, and we are honoured to share our warmth and our nourishment with you.

Come down, check us out. Don’t be shy….
